ANTLERS

How Often:

Procedure:

Boiled linseed oil OR wood floor polish (such as Liquid Gold or Mop ‘n Glo)

Every other year (every year for horns, such as antelope)

Put product on a clean cloth and wipe down each antler and tine.  Avoid getting product directly on the skull and/or hairs, as this can cause discoloration and/or damage.

SKULL

Product:

How Often:

Procedure:

Canned compressed air or clean cloth

Every other month (or when dust is visibly laying on mount)

If using canned air, do not flip can upside down, as propellant can dispense and coat the skull.  Avoid using any cleaners as this could cause discoloration and/or staining.

HAIR & HIDE

Product:

How Often:

Procedure:

Cowboy Magic or Show Sheen (available at feed and tack or equine supply stores), compressed air
**Do not use Pledge!!**

Every other year

Spray product on a clean cloth and wipe down entire mount; always go with the direction of hair growth and never against it.  Use compressed air to eliminate dust (this decreases your chances of dust mite damage).  If you notice patches of hair falling out as you’re cleaning, give us a call as soon as possible.

FEATHERS

Product:

How Often:

Procedure:

Compressed air or feather duster

Every other month (or when dust is visibly laying on feathers)

If using canned air, do not flip can upside down, as propellant can dispense and cause damage. Avoid allowing dust to buildup, as this will increase your chances of dust mite damage.  If you notice feathers falling out as you’re cleaning, give us a call as soon as possible.

FISH & REPTILES (skin & reproduction)

Product:

How Often:

Procedure:

Compressed air or clean cloth

Every other month (or when dust is visibly laying on mount)

If using canned air, do not flip can upside down, as propellant can dispense and cause damage. Avoid allowing dust to buildup.  Keep mount out of direct sunlight to keep colors vibrant and avoid skin damage.

We hope you enjoy your new mount!
